so, here i am at work, eating my free lunch (or is there such a thing?).  anyway, it's a lovely CA day, and i have a most congenial office mate/co-research assistant. she's cute, smart. and fun to talk with.

was watching 'friday' on tv last night. i watch this movie whenever it's on because chris tucker really cracks me up. at the end of the movie, he swears off marijuana forever, then proceeds to light up. last night, though, i was watching on this inane station provided to us in campus housing (MTVU), and they cut off the bit where he gets high at the end. it's good to know that the college kids of today won't be exposed to such shenanigans. it's HIGH time they put this type of glorification of illegal drugs out of action...

meanwhile, drunken fraternity parties in which meaningless sex with numerous parties is portrayed as the lovably precocious activities of promising young future leaders in "greek," a new show for abc "family". why do i know this? it's one of the free downloads from itunes i've got on my computer from this past summer's many hours of sheer boredom when living at home with the olds.

anyway, time to go pick up a package at the mail-room. (they're open from 12-7, though yesterday they arbitrarily decided to close up at three... grr. want my new t-shirt). ttfn

okay, o'kelle.

you got me here. now what? blogs and such are not something i've been into for a while. i spend too much time at the computer already...

anyway, made it to san jose. what fun. i live in a tiny room on the 12th floor the size of some people's closets, but i do have an amazing view of stunning silicon valley from the window that my bed pretty is pretty much falling out. it's a good thing i'm not the jimmy stewart character that was in love with kim novak. i'd have a problem.

'kay. work is pretty cool. it's nice to have a job where tshirts and tattoos are pretty much okay. i like my boss, and a good deal of my job seems to be choosing menus for receptions and talking to snooty hotel guys who have to pretend they like me because they want the university's business. it's fun. plus, the standards of "busy" and "crazy" in the university seem to be far lower than anything i've ever experienced before. we are supposedly very busy, but we spent almost three hours out of my six hour day on lunch and schmoozing with caterers. fortunately, i learned enough not to point out that this job looks pretty easy to me compared with others i've done. i guess the 12 hour night shifts at the cannery in alaska gave me a bit of a different perspective on work.

so. for natasha, i just want to let you know that i'm still sending packets with letters and music. you should have a new one from me early next week.
